What is
World Environment Day?

A global celebration of nature,
a day to reconnect with the places that matter most to you.

The Theme in 2017 I'm With Nature

Above all, World Environment Day is the ‘people’s day’ for doing something to take care of the Earth or become an agent of change. That ‘something’ can be focused locally, nationally or globally; it can be a solo action or involve a crowd – everyone is free to choose.

History of World Environment Day Five decades of environmental action

Since its beginning in 1974, World Environment Day has developed into a global platform for raising awareness and taking action on urgent issues from marine pollution and global warming to sustainable consumption and wildlife crime.

Host Country Canada: natural heritage at the heart of national identity

World Environment Day will be an important part of Canada’s 150th birthday celebrations. As part of the festivities, Canada is offering free passes for its national parks throughout 2017.
